Nicaragua Missions 2016

At Cornerstone Christian Academy, our desire is to train leaders who will impact society for the glory of God.  CCA students learn servant leadership by serving in their community, as well as their world.

For the past 9 years, CCA’s Junior Class has had a unique opportunity to serve each year at the CICRIN Orphanage and San Jose Schools on the island of Ometepe, Nicaragua. Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in the Western  Hemisphere, and CICRIN serves the poorest of Nicaraguans in a small, impoverished community. CICRIN was founded by American missionaries in the 1970’s to care for the neediest children on the island. It has served as both a home and spiritual training center for hundreds of children through the years.

The Junior Class will travel to Ometepe early this spring. While on the island, their mission is twofold; to improve CICRIN’S facilities in whatever way possible, and also engage the local community by improving area schools, running Vacation Bible Schools, and operating sports camps for the children of Ometepe. Previous groups have served by repainting the orphanage’s interior rooms, building stone break walls, chopping wood, installing overhead fans and whiteboards in schools, hosting community  celebrations, and showing the love of Christ through many other events and activities.

CCA has been invited to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with two local public schools and expose over 700 children to the message of salvation!  At the close of the team’s time in Ometepe, they will host a community celebration.  This event has the potential to reach up to 1,000 people. During that evening, over 30,000 meals will be distributed to needy families.  Your prayers for a successful journey are coveted, and your support sincerely appreciated as the team shines their light around  the world for God’s glory.
